Sony Music lanza una antología definitiva en 5 CD con tomas alternativas, ensayos privados y mezclas inéditas que revelan el alma del Rey del Rock en los años ’70.
RCA Records y Legacy Recordings —la división de catálogo de Sony Music Entertainment— lanzaron Sunset Boulevard, una colección monumental de 5 CD que recorre las sesiones de grabación y ensayos de Elvis Presley en los estudios RCA de Los Ángeles. La compilación incluye 89 rarezas, más de la mitad nunca antes editadas en Estados Unidos, y pone foco en la producción artística de Elvis durante la década de 1970, una de las más introspectivas y conmovedoras de su carrera.
Entre las joyas se destacan versiones alternativas de “Separate Ways”, “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” y “Burning Love”, el último single Top Ten del Rey. También brilla con fuerza “Always on My Mind”, la célebre balada que Elvis grabó antes que Willie Nelson y que aquí revela su vulnerabilidad emocional en estado puro.
Lo que trae cada disco
Los dos primeros discos de Sunset Boulevard —también disponibles en vinilo doble con selección curada— presentan mezclas inéditas de Matt Ross-Spang, ganador de cuatro premios GRAMMY. El productor eliminó sobregrabaciones y efectos para dejar al descubierto el corazón de cada interpretación: la voz desnuda de Elvis dialogando con autores como Kris Kristofferson, Paul Williams, Billy Swan y Don McLean.
Los tres discos restantes nos llevan a los ensayos íntimos con la TCB Band, registrados en Los Ángeles antes de sus históricas residencias en Las Vegas. La química con su banda de gira, inédita hasta entonces en sesiones de estudio, le dio nueva vida a clásicos como “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, “Sweet Caroline”, “Stranger in the Crowd” y “Suspicious Minds”.
Edición especial y evento en Graceland
Sunset Boulevard se publica en formato físico (5 CD), digital y vinilo doble (incluye variante de color exclusiva de Graceland), acompañado de fotos inéditas y textos del historiador Colin Escott, con prólogo de su amigo íntimo Jerry Schilling.
Como parte de la Elvis Week 2025, Sony Music organizará un evento exclusivo de escucha el miércoles 13 de agosto en el Guest House Theatre de Graceland, para celebrar lo que habría sido el 90° cumpleaños de Elvis.
