El músico y escritor rosarino Cristián David Castro, conocido artísticamente como Kaztroh, presenta Nacido en rojo y crecido en bordeaux, una obra conceptual que une música, literatura y cine. En esta entrevista, repasa su recorrido por el under, el proceso creativo, el vínculo con el público y el sentido de construir arte en tiempos donde todo parece fugaz.

Rosario late distinto cuando el arte se hace sin fórmulas. En esa escena diversa, entre bares, teatros y salas autogestionadas, Kaztroh forjó su identidad. Músico, escritor y performer, lleva casi dos décadas transitando el circuito independiente. Estudió bajo, guitarra, saxo tenor y canto, herramientas que moldearon una mirada musical amplia y artesanal.
En Nacido en rojo y crecido en bordeaux, su nuevo proyecto, se mezclan esas trayectorias. Es un disco, sí, pero también un libro y un cortometraje: una trilogía emocional donde el sonido, la palabra y la imagen confluyen. El resultado es un manifiesto artístico sobre el deseo, la memoria y la transformación.
“Lo que empezó como un disco terminó siendo una historia —cuenta—. Una especie de universo propio. No quería hacer algo más para Spotify: quería hacer algo que quedara, que tenga alma”.
“Quería grabar con Ale Vázquez, un productor al que admiré toda la vida. Cuando me dijo que sí, armó un equipo con músicos que fueron referentes para mí: Corvata (Carajo), Andy Villanova, Guillermo Vadalá… Fue un sueño. Pero en ese proceso me di cuenta de que lo que estaba escribiendo tenía un hilo narrativo, un personaje. No era solo música. Era una historia completa. Y ahí nació la idea de hacer una obra conceptual de siete canciones, con libro y cortometraje incluidos”.
El personaje —Neryceb— encarna un viaje de redención, una metáfora del ser humano que intenta reconciliarse con su propio caos. “Neryceb es una especie de alter ego, una parte mía y una parte de todos. Tiene luz y tiene sombra. Lo que vive él, lo vivimos todos: la búsqueda, la caída, la reconstrucción”.
El arte como refugio físico y emocional
Kaztroh habla del arte como quien habla de un hogar. “Yo vengo de una época donde uno esperaba el disco, lo abría, leía los créditos, olía el librito. Ese ritual se perdió. Hoy todo es rápido, líquido, inmediato. Yo quise ir a contramano de eso: hacer algo físico, tangible, que se escuche y se lea con tiempo”.
El concepto de tiempo aparece constantemente en su discurso. No solo como proceso creativo, sino como postura ante el mundo. “Vivimos en la era del zapping emocional —dice—. No podés construir profundidad si todo tiene que durar quince segundos. Nacido en rojo y crecido en bordeaux es una resistencia a eso. Es una invitación a frenar y escuchar”.
¿Cómo fue el proceso compositivo y de grabación?
“Muy distinto a lo que venía haciendo. Esta vez no arranqué con la guitarra o con el piano, sino con la voz. Grababa ideas, frases, melodías, y las iba puliendo. Después vino el trabajo colectivo en el estudio, donde la energía fue increíble. Estuvimos cinco días encerrados de diez de la mañana a diez de la noche. Ale (Vázquez) llevó todo a un nivel impresionante. Cada músico aportó algo único. Hubo lágrimas, risas, silencios… y mucha entrega.”
El resultado es un sonido híbrido: rock, hip hop, tango y folclore, unidos por un hilo poético. La producción, cuidada al detalle, logra equilibrio entre fuerza y melancolía. “Hay canciones que nacen como puñetazos y otras como susurros. Me gusta ese contraste. El rojo es la pasión; el bordeaux, la madurez. Esas son mis dos caras”, indica Kaztroh.
Del escenario al cine: una experiencia sensorial
El proyecto también incluye un cortometraje, dirigido por el propio Kaztroh junto a un equipo audiovisual rosarino. En él, el artista interpreta a Neryceb, su personaje.
“Actuar fue un desafío enorme. En el rodaje entendí que no estaba interpretando a otro, sino que me estaba mirando a mí mismo. Fue sanador. Me reconcilié con cosas que no había terminado de entender».
El resultado es una pieza visual potente, que dialoga con la música desde lo simbólico.
“La idea no era hacer videoclips sueltos, sino una historia que complemente la obra. Cada canción es un capítulo y cada imagen es un recuerdo”.
¿Cómo será el show de presentación?
“El 31 de octubre en Refi (Rosario) vamos a hacer una puesta con fuerte carga audiovisual. No quiero un recital tradicional: quiero una experiencia. Hay visuales, proyecciones, performance, teatro. Me interesa que el público sienta que entra a un mundo, no a un concierto. Que viva la historia conmigo”.
Kaztroh sonríe cuando lo dice. Tiene el entusiasmo de quien vuelve a creer en la magia del escenario. “Después de tanto tiempo tocando en bares, sentir que algo propio toma forma es impagable. Este proyecto me dio un propósito”.
Redes, comunidad y escucha
En tiempos donde el algoritmo parece decidir qué vale y qué no, Kaztroh apuesta por el vínculo humano. “El feedback con la gente me sorprende. Algunos se me acercan después de los shows a contarme que encontraron alivio en una letra o en un video. Me escriben pibes que me dicen: ‘Che, loco, me sentí menos solo escuchando eso’. Ahí entendés que el arte no es ego ni vanidad: es conexión”.
También confiesa que no le teme a la crítica. “El arte no tiene que gustar siempre. Tiene que movilizar. Si deja indiferente, no sirve. Prefiero incomodar a que me olviden”.
Aprendizaje y evolución
Kaztroh reconoce que su relación con las nuevas generaciones de músicos lo transformó. “Antes uno se creía que lo sabía todo. Hoy aprendo de los pibes. Hay una apertura tremenda, una colaboración que antes no existía. Lo que antes era competencia hoy es comunidad. Me nutrí mucho de eso”.
Su mirada es generacional, pero también filosófica. “En el arte no hay edades, hay procesos. Cada uno llega cuando tiene que llegar. Yo recién ahora siento que encontré mi voz, y eso no me da vergüenza decirlo”.
Epílogo: el refugio y la bandera
¿Cómo describirías este momento de tu carrera?
Como un renacimiento. Este disco fue un reseteo. Cerré una etapa de búsqueda y abrí otra de certeza. Encontré mi voz y mi propósito. Por eso digo que planté bandera.
¿Cómo te gustaría que se recuerde a Kaztroh dentro de unos años?
Como un refugio. No como un artista de moda ni como un personaje. Quiero que Kaztroh sea un espacio donde el arte y la gente se abracen. Si eso sobrevive, ya está.
