La artista puertorriqueña iLe, ganadora del Latin GRAMMY, ha lanzado su nuevo sencillo “El Verdugo”. La canción, escrita originalmente por Tite Curet Alonso, fue popularizada por La Lupe en 1974. “El Verdugo” sirve como adelanto del nuevo álbum de iLe, “Como Las Canto Yo”, que está disponible.
“Verdugo’’ simboliza a esa persona que quiere ‘matar’ la relación como un ejecutor, pero la ‘víctima’ no se siente amenazada porque puede ver a través de él, y eso cambia todo”, explica iLe. “Ella se aleja de la relación y recupera su poder al elegir estar sola, mientras el verdugo sufre su felicidad”, añade.
El álbum “Como Las Canto Yo” es un proyecto de versiones dedicado a los boleros favoritos de iLe. Fue co-producido por la propia artista junto a Ismael Cancel. “Soñé con grabar este disco desde que tenía unos 13 años”, dice iLe desde San Juan.
“Siempre me han encantado los boleros, especialmente cuando era adolescente. En casa escuchábamos mucha salsa y rock, pero mi papá me presentó estas canciones brutales sobre amores no correspondidos que conectaban totalmente con el drama de mi propia adolescencia. Me encantaba la pasión de los boleros: disfrutaba cantarlos, expresar los sentimientos e intentar entenderlos.
Lejos de ser predecibles, sus interpretaciones de estos clásicos ofrecen variaciones sutiles mientras aborda las melodías con reverencia y elegancia. En todo caso, “Como Las Canto Yo” revela la profunda comprensión que iLe tiene del misticismo del bolero. Es una sesión elegante, marcada por un sonido impecable y una voz extraordinaria — hermosa e impredecible— que será recordada por décadas como una de las más trascendentes de su tipo.
Desde la aterciopelada joya “Llanto de luna” de Gilberto Monroig, hasta la explosiva “Puro teatro” de La Lupe, obra magistral del ícono puertorriqueño Tite Curet Alonso, la selección de canciones ilustra la amplitud del conocimiento de iLe y su incomparable comprensión de la estética del género.
“ La mayoría de la gente asocia los boleros con orquestaciones sofisticadas”, explica iLe. “Pero cuando sales a la calle, también los ves interpretados con guitarras. Quise que el álbum tuviera esa energía bohemia, auténtica y callejera. Hay algo crudo y agresivo en esas texturas de guitarra. Los boleros son apasionados y directos, y ese era precisamente mi estado de ánimo al hacer el disco. Algunas de las canciones se grabaron en una sola toma.
