El artista integral que combina música, diseño, actuación y dirección creativa habla de su alter ego, de cómo concibe la creación artística y de los desafíos de ser independiente. En esta entrevista, Akirey (Jorge Rey) se muestra sin filtros: entre la poesía, el control y la libertad.
Un nombre con juego de palabras y luz
El inicio de la charla no podía ser otro que el nombre. ¿De dónde surge Akirey? Jorge sonríe antes de responder:
—Akirey es un alter ego que se mezcla con Jorge Rey. Akira significa iluminado y Rey es mi apellido. Entonces fue como un juego de palabras: Aquí Rey. Me pareció divertido, más fantasía, más libre que el peso de Jorge.
Aunque Akirey ya era reconocido en el teatro musical y en la moda, su incursión en la música fue natural.
—Siempre me gustó la música para los desfiles, para contar cosas, para diseñar. Fue orgánico, nació del sentimiento. Escribir canciones se volvió otra forma de narrar mi mundo.
Además cuenta que sus letras se visten de experiencia, aunque a veces las disfraza rítmicamente: “Uno no puede mentir, escribo desde lo que viví”.
El sonido: tango, rock y sintetizadores
En su universo musical conviven tango, pop, rock, violines, guitarras eléctricas y sintetizadores.
—Es una mezcla que representa mi identidad. Me gusta experimentar, tomar pequeñas cosas de cada lugar y crear una narrativa. Todo está prácticamente inventado, así que la clave es cómo lo contamos.
Para Akirey, la narrativa es central: la utiliza tanto en sus colecciones de moda como en la música y los videoclips, que él mismo produce junto a un equipo reducido.
Independencia y trabajo colectivo
Aunque sus videos parecen grandes producciones, en realidad surgen de la pasión y la autogestión.
—Todavía no tengo sello. Soy independiente en todo. Lo hago con mi equipo, que son tres personas, y con amigos creativos que creen en el proyecto. Es mucho amor y mucho trabajo.
Asegura que esa independencia lo obliga a multiplicar esfuerzos: “Mis amigos me dicen: Jorge, ´dejá de trabajar tanto´. Pero crear es mi vida. No puedo escapar de esta forma de ser”.
Entre el control y la improvisación
Cuando se le pregunta si busca controlar cada detalle, Akirey se detiene y reflexiona:
—Uno cree que maneja el guion, pero el que maneja el guion es la vida. Lo importante es perder el control en vivo, sentir la adrenalina.
En esa pérdida de control, dice, está la experiencia más genuina del arte.
Preparación para el escenario
Aunque aún no estrenó un show propio, lleva más de dos años ensayando. Su idea de espectáculo es conceptual, integral, con música, vestuario y visuales entrelazados.
—Ensayo tres veces por semana. Quiero estar listo para el día en que alguien me diga: “Jorge, mañana hay show”. La suerte llega cuando estás preparado.
Influencias y apertura musical
Creció escuchando desde Sandro y Cacho Castaña hasta Miranda, pasando por cuarteto y cumbia santafesina. Esa diversidad, dice, marcó su búsqueda:
—Hoy la gente escucha de todo. Eso es genial porque abre la cabeza y permite experimentar con fusiones.
Recuerda cómo de chico escuchaba en bucle un disco de Miranda en Rufino, su pueblo, y cómo hoy sigue nutriéndose de sonidos de distintos países y culturas.
Lo que lo conmueve
Cuando se le pregunta qué lo moviliza profundamente, responde sin dudar:
—Decir adiós. Me conmueve mucho despedirme: de personas, de versiones de mí mismo. Decir adiós es aceptar que nada es eterno, salvo el recuerdo que dejamos en otros.
Ese concepto atraviesa incluso su próxima canción, que habla del adiós y de la esperanza de volver a encontrarse.
Disciplina y cuidado de la voz
Akirey entrena a diario, al aire libre, y toma clases de canto con un coach.
—Tengo una voz fuerte y a veces debo controlarla. Practico mucho porque quiero que el show sea impecable. Entrenar me da fuerza, oxígeno e ideas.
Un disco conceptual en gestación
Actualmente, trabaja en su segundo álbum, un proyecto que define como conceptual.
—Sale en singles porque no terminé de juntarlo todo, pero tengo claro lo que quiero contar. Estoy feliz con las canciones y los videoclips. Quizás cambie el nombre, porque el arte es dinámico, evoluciona conmigo.
